Australian Values Statement
From 15 October 2007, all applicants aged 18 years or over are required to sign an Australian values statement as part of their visa application. The statement they are required to sign depends on the type of visa they are applying for. All provisional, permanent and some temporary visa applicants are required to have read, or have explained to them, information provided by the Australian government before signing the Values Statement.
The statement is included in the visa application form makes the applicants confirm that they will respect the Australian way of life and obey Australian laws.
The Life in Australia book provides more information on the values that Australians share and their way of life.
